To showcase Chopin’s solo piano works, and encourage the highest level of Chopin piano performance for students of all MTACSD teachers.
RULES & GUIDELINES

Students may perform one composition by Chopin in its entirety, selected from a category in the student’s appropriate age division. Students in Division III Sonata Category may perform one movement of a sonata by Chopin. No changes in repertoire may be made after the deadline.
Applicants must provide judges one original copy of music to be performed. No photocopies are permitted. Downloaded copies should have an accompanying bill of sale. Contestants presenting an unpermitted photocopy will be disqualified. All performances must be from memory. This competition is open to the public. Families and guests are welcome to attend this competition.
The panel will consist of qualified, impartial judges. The judges will choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category. Ties are not allowed. Decisions of the judges are final. Participating teachers and parents are not allowed to contact the judges at any point regarding the competition nor the competition results.
First Prize for each category will receive monetary award:
Division I - $100
Division II - $200
Division III - $300
First, Second and Third Place Winners will receive medals.
WINNERS’ RECITAL/AWARD PRESENTATION
First and Second Place winners of each category will perform at the Concert Series of First Presbyterian Church of San Diego on April 15, 2018 at 7 PM. The winners will be announced and the awards will be presented during the Winners' Recital. Therefore, all Festival participants are expected to attend and be prepared to perform their Chopin piece, if chosen as the First or Second Place winner. Winners must be present to receive their awards. Any winner not attending the concert will forfeit their award.
REQUIRED SIGNATURE FORM & SUPPLEMENTARY DOCUMENTS
Parents and teachers must sign a copy of the emailed registration confirmation form, verifying that all information is accurate. Proof-of-age document, such as birth certificate, passport or driver’s license, is required for all applicants.
New or Contributory members must have joined the San Diego branch on or before February 12, 2018, in order to participate in the Chopin Festival.
